The Centre Pompidou Paris is expanding its collection thanks to a donation from the Nitsch Foundation and is offering Austrian artist Hermann Nitsch his own space in its permanent collection.
The works will be accessible until the museum's complete renovation, scheduled to take place after 10 March 2025.
The ensemble includes a relic painting from Nitsch's 50th action in 1975 at Prinzendorf Castle, and a splattered painting created during the 66th painting action in Istanbul in 2013. There are also 12 pencil drawings on paper dated between 1960 and 2017, 36 lithographs and prints produced between 1984 and 1991, the Levitikus art book (published in 16 copies and accompanied by 12 terragraphs) and an action painting with paint folder from 1994 from his Ox Paintings series.
